You Are Important!

Several centuries ago in a mountain village in Europe, a nobleman decided to build a church for his townspeople and to leave it as a legacy to them when he died.

No one saw the complete plans for the church until it was finished. When the people gathered for the dedication of the new church they were amazed at its beauty and completeness.  Then someone asked, "But where are the lamps? How will it be lighted?"

The nobleman pointed to brackets on the wall where lamps could be hung.  Then he gave each family a lamp and told the people they were to bring their lamps each time they came to worship.  “Each time you are here, the area where you are seated will be lighted.” the nobleman said.  “Each time you do not come to worship, that area will be dark.  This is to remind you that whenever you fail to come to church, some part of God's house will be dark.”

Sometimes you may feel that you are not important or not needed.  But the truth is that you are important and needed, especially when it comes to sharing the gifts God has given  you.  We are His hands and His feet.  We are all a part of the Body of Christ.  Each part has its own special purpose (read I Corinthians 12).

When you do not attend worship, the singing of praises is one voice quieter.  When you do not join in the fellowship, your story of how God has and is working in your life is not shared.  When you do not share your gifts, the world misses out.  You are important!

Please never forget that the Lord wants you to be a part of His kingdom.  He needs you and so do we.

 See you Sunday!
